2003 Envoy Slt Dead Battery
So I have this Envoy with only 59K on it. You might say
great almost new. ( I have another car which is my
primary). Well over the past 1-1/2 years I notice if the
truck sits for a week in the garage the battery is dead. I
have replaced the battery 3 times got the alternator
checked and checked for default codes NOTHING!!!!!
Took it to my maintanence guy he said the truck was in
great shape. The only thing I could think of is I had Best
Buy install a viper alarm system on the vehicle and maybe
that's the culprit. I have a parasitic draw from
somewhere. Any suggestions

if the battery is draining that quick...there is a draw...the alarm is adding to the draw...check the draw...what is it...if more than 1/2 volt start with pulling/removing 1 fuse at a time while reading the volt meater/or test light...my Z06 corvettes battery needs to be charged if it sits for a week to 10 days but it has alot going on in my system...your person who works on it should know how to check/find/fix a DRAW ISSUE...

Also Buddy, modern cars have sensors that are associated with the computer that don't "sleep" immediately after shutting off the car. doing a draw test like the one above wont work exactly as shown because of this. also, you cant even have the door or hood open when doing this because you would have to disable anything like dome lights etc. that come on when you open them or they will show a draw. check out ericthecarguy.com and search how to perform a parasitic draw test. it will show you how to do it on a modern computerized vehicle.
