my engine will not turn over the starter is engaging and the flywheel is turning but the engine is not. do i have a broke crankshaft or could it be something else?

are you sure the flywheel is turning...often automakers give you a small opening where the flywheel is exposed for using a timing light to find TDC...this is actually turning...but the valves and timing chain is not? is this the case? if this is the case, yes something major has become disconnected...cracked crank is a scenario...crate engine? https://www.google.com/#q=1992+GMC+Sierra+1500++crate+engine&tb m=shop
