Hot wire ground itself off on manifold

I noticed a spark on my motor on the hot
water after recently replacing my starter
now my engine cranks over very slow not
even enough to start it was wondering if I
damaged my battery or alternator is that
possible I have a 1993 GMC 1500 pickup

"Hot water?" Not sure what you mean there. You can take the battery in to be tested under load, for voltage and cranking amps. The only thing that affects the starter is the starter circuit. (google your make/models starter circuit for a diagram or consult a repair manual). If you shorted the starter you may have damaged the solenoid or starter windings. You should also do a voltage drop test on both battery cables to make sure the arcing didn't damage the connection between battery and starter.
