Truck battery goes 9 to 14 and back and forth

I gotta 97 gmc 4x4 6.5L TDD and battery tells me 9 to 14
back and forth. When i brake my lights dim when i gas they
dim and my high beams kick off sometimes and turn back
on here and there. But i need help on the fluxuation of my
batt lvls

your alternator is probably going out but if it happens to be your battery diehard batteries last a good while i had one for 12 years and it still works
