Rear wheel speed signal missing

Asked by AKNewby11 Dec 21, 2019 at 05:55 PM about the 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 K1500 SLE 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My ABS light comes on intermittently, when it
does come on my speedometer does not
work and vehicle goes into limp mode. I had
the codes read and I have the codes
C0236 & C0237, rear wheel speed signal
missing & throttle position signal malfunction.
Any ideas on where or what to start with?

Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.

A lot of the time rust will build up under the wheel speed censor where it is mounted. Remove the censor and clean up the mounting surfaces. Another common problem is the wire will break in the wiring harness. Replacing the wheel censor would be advised.
