Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 I'll
be driving down the highway when
suddenly all my warning lights and both
turn signal indicators light ( even 4
wheel drive light and I don't have 4
wheel) then the engine dies. My son
noticed my hazard lights weren't
working. I was testing lights. When I
turned on the left turn signal everything
returned to normal and the truck
started. Continued down the highway.
Little while later it did the same thing..
Hit the left turn signal and was able to
keep driving. What's your thoughts?

Well it turned out to be ground wire. The negative battery cable has two wires. One to the engine block the other to the frame. The one to the frame either came off or was never attached. I couldn't find where it should be attached so I hooked it to another ground bolt near the bumper.I also cleaned the braided body ground from engine to body. It solved all the problems that had been going on for months. Like cruise control turning off for no reason, ABS and brake lights coming on for no reason. If your GMC starts doing really weird stuff look for grounding issues. There are a lot of videos on YouTube. Much more helpful than sites like this.
