does the 2004 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 have a kill switch installed to prevent it from being stolen?

was it equipped with onstar?

try the dealer on the onstar thing. if they can turn that on then it can pinpoint your truck.

You see its a long story. lol my man bought it off his brother about a year and ahalf ago he paid him $17,000 for it. the thing is he never switched over the title into his name (very dumb on my boyfriends part) reason y he didnt tho was his brother owns lifetime auto and it was registered under the business so we had a dealer plate and never had to pay insurance. my bofriend Andy would always say how much of a slimball his brother was and wouldnt put it past him to steal the truck back after he was done paying it off. well two days ago it was gone when we woke up so im trying to find out what year did dealers start installing some type of kill switch as soon as your column would be broke off? because if it does have it then we would no for sure whoever took it had to have a key.

or call the police and tell them that you have onstar. Then everything should go as planned like in that chevy ad. If not, sue gm, and they will lose so much money that they will have to get rid of chevy, thus saving the u.s. auto industry from further self-destruction and bringing it to its former glory.(Probably wont happen). Still go to a dealer or police.

Yes, real tricky especially if they hadn't been paying for the Onstar service. A GMC truck of mine (1999) was stolen, and later recovered with little or no damage to the ignition/column. As I had spoken with the insurance company and the Police, they told me about a device that car theives were using, that when inserted into the lock cylinder would mimick the shape of the key and whn turned could allow the vehicle to start. Now the other problem is that unless your boyfriend's brother reports the car stolen, you could have some issues since leaving the car in the company's name to avoid paying car insurance is insurance fraud. unless the onstar was disconnected, they can still pinpoint its location by satellite and tell you where it is- the problem is going to be proving it is yours if you never switched the title over- sometimes in our haste to not pay tax, etc. we forget that there are consequences- it will be his word against yours. get a lawyer.
