Should I buy Audi A6 w 264000miles

Thinking about buying  04 A6 with 263,000 from
my mechanic who's worked on this car since it had
144k miles on it. He owns an import service
garage & this was his son's car. Timing belt was
changed at 194k ...am I nuts to buy this car for my
son to drive around locally, school, work hockey
practice?
