will a bad sensor make my 2000 GMC 1500 SLE seem to look like its running hot?

took thermostat off, bled lines ran cool for quit a way and slowly started getting hot. turned
off truck for not eve 5 mins. and turned key over it was still a lil hot but didnt sit long
enough to cool that much that quick but started to run hot again so I continued that cycle
for about 5 miles

A bad sensor will not make it seem like its running hot there is another problem. If both radiator hoses are not hot you may have a defective thermostat.

you'll know if it's really hot the heater will blast hot, if it is check the rad,for blocking or fan not blowing strong,
