Failed AWD system in older Sanat Fe

Asked by Paleoman47 Apr 11, 2022 at 08:25 PM about the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At 493,000 miles my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe's AWD system failed. Hyundai
ceased making parts for cars older than ten years, so finding warehoused
AWD for this car might be impossible. If found, repair would top $3500.
Engine and trans, though, are original. Still performs fine, but everything has
a limit...including me. I can't learn if new Santa Fe engine and trans would fit
my 2004, or the cost of such a dreamer's wish...but I love this stupid car. Any
ideas as to parts availability and where to search? Thanks.

To answer about newer engines and transmissions fitting, in short no they won't work. Now as far as finding parts your very limited, I have found some parts on EBay for older models, also wrecking yards that specialize in certain make and models might work for you. I am sure that if you have talked to anyone about this they will tell you to just junk the vehicle instead of putting any money into it.
