Santa Fe engine will not start

Asked by Luke Mar 21, 2016 at 07:53 PM about the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe LX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was given this vehicle by a frustrated friend. It turns over, will not fire. I plugged it into the computer and its throws a Crankshaft position sensor code, okay I changed that.
Still won't start, run the hand held one more time, now it says Camshaft position sensor, okay I changed that. So now there is a brand new Crank, and Camshaft position sensor.
Still won't start, its getting fuel, AND spark and isn't firing.....which is odd to me. Does anyone have any useful information, other than take it to the junkyard?

If it is getting fuel and spark sounds like it has jumped time.

I agree with firebird. Can't say for certain on the 03, but timing belt, pulleys, and tensioner were a pretty easy job on my 01
