Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm having a lot of play in the steering when I'm driving. We have checked the bushing and the tie rods they seem to be fine. what else could I check? Is this a common issues?

It's not easy to tell a bad or loose tie rod end just be looking at it. You need to access the joint and manipulate it and see if it's offering resistance or loose. If it's exceeded a number of miles since it's been changed then they are likely due. Same with bushings, can look okay but still be bad, again, if they've never been changed after x number of miles then they may be due. After TRE and bushings next thing to look at is gearbox. The adjusting screw on top is only for preload on the shaft bearing, it wont actually tighten things up. With vehicle lifted, grab the front wheels and turn them while watching the pitman arm, if it moves too then replace gearbox.
