I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee (zj) laredo 4x4 i6 4.0, motor blew, could i use a 4.0 out of a 97 cherokee xj i beleive?

Hi you can use the engine from a 97,98 with no problems but a 99 they changed the electronics and you could use the engine but would have to swap over your fly wheel and cam dist pick up for the 99
