Can I swap a 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee I6 with a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee I6

I own the 97 and my brother owns
the 02 both jeeps have problems so
we want to make one good one and
his needs the motor

you can, but it is NOT an exact fit. they changed a lot of stuff up between the two models. your 97 can take a donor from a 93-98 grand cherokee, any regular cherokee and i think most of the wranglers. if you get a cherokee donor, don't get a 00- 01, they have a coil pack instead of a distributor and are prone to cracking when overheated
