Are you able to interchange a 1996 with a
2001 or newer front bumper off of a jeep
grand Cherokee

From 1992-1998 were the years of the "ZJ" Jeep Grand Cherokees and everything changed from 1999-2004 in the "WJ" Jeep Grand Cherokees. You may be able to cobble it on but it won't be an exact fit. Check you salvage yards of look on Craigslist for a ZJ Jeep getting parted out.
