Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo and I've

Worn out oil pump, worn engine, low on oil. How many miles on the engine?

22,215

This is usually caused by a high mileage engine. As the main bearings wear out, there is more clearance and the oil pump cannot keep the pressure up at engine idle. It can also be a failing oil pump or thin oil (for instance contaminated with fuel or too light weight oil). You could try using a slightly thicker oil (I.E. SAE 40 weight instead of 10W-30.) How many miles on the vehicle?
