fuel sending unit defective, broken wire, Check your overhead and see if the DTE function is working. If so its most likely the gauge, If the DTE isnt working then its most likely the sensor in the tank

There are a few that can cause a fuel gage not to work. If your fuel pump us working but the gage is not you may have a bad connection in the connection just behind the left rear tire where the power is connected to your pump/sending unit.

Very possibly a bad connection in the harness just behind the left rear tire. You will need to remove the tire and check the connection that supplies power to your fuel pump. Turn on the key to let the gage receive power. Have someone watch the gage as you unplug and plug the connector back in. If the gage starts to move you will know the problem is in the plug.
