97 security system starts, but immediately stalls

Try this: Shut all your doors, then cycle your
locks from the back latch ending in the
unlock position. I just had this problem on a
97 limited I bought yesterday, and it worked
great. Now I'm driving it. Best wishes.

Maybe you can try this too? Try unlocking the cherokee from the back latch. That's how I overrode my security on my 97 GC. Give it a shot.
