What should I fix first

Asked by Guru9Z5TWR Nov 27, 2020 at 11:18 AM about the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my 99 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo is having these
problems please help.
1. Acceleration issues when trying to pick up speed and
going up steep hills.
2. Idles high and back down every time I am picking up
speed... idk how to explain it?
3. When I was parked with jeep on after 15 or 20 mins my
jeep starts to putter like it wants to stall out and I would
turn of vehicle and let it rest go to turn it on it's still
sputtering and I proceed to go forward or backwards and
it acts like it wants to stall and I have to pump on the gas
to get to stop but it does it until get about 1/2 block? This
has only happened 3 times since I bought jeep in February
2020. I have already replaced the spark plugs and wires
and I'm getting regular oil changes I have one tomorrow
Saturday November 28th 2020.
4. My heat doesn't get hot as should my truck will be fully
warmed up and the heat will still be medium Luke warm
not unbearable or anything but noticed it takes a long time
after driving it before it warms up and heat only coming
out certain vents. ( I already put a new thermostat in)
Please tell me your ideas I think that it is from looking on
the internet.
Fuel injector: clogged or dirty or needs replacing
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Vacuum leaks
Low fuel pressure
And the heat issues could be
Blend doors
Heater core
Okay so when it comes to the fuel system in what order
do I go in from cheapest to highes? Which one should I do
first?

As far as the fuel system, I would start by checking the vacuum lines and making sure they are all connected and in good condition. From there I would clean the throttle body (egr system sends unburned gas from exhaust back through to be burned again) this can cause the throttle body to get gummed up with carbon buildup and cause the butterfly valve in the throttle body to stick which can cause the aforementioned issues. From there I would test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. This will tell you if your injectors are getting the right amount of pressure to them or if its losing pressure somewhere under the vehicle. If the fuel pressure is low there, change fuel filter and retest. If still low I'd look at the pump. Also add injector cleaner at any time during this process (will help clean the injectors without having to do any real work on them) as for the heat issue, I would first look at the blend doors, the actuator may have gone bad.
