Whistling noise

Asked by Candice Dec 02, 2016 at 11:13 PM about the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello All,

Recently my Jeep has been making a
whistling noise once I accelerate, but when
I stop the noise also stops. The noise is
coming from the righ side of the Jeep, so
can anyone assist me identifying the
issue? Thank you!

Check for a vacuum leak around the intake. Any symptoms involving idle or rough running? Pop the hood and have some press the accelerator while in park, you may hear the whistling then as well.

Does it sound like Dixie? Just wondering. ;)

Sounds more like a spooling F-18 Super Hornet at 100 yds, Mr. SmartyPants.
