Jumping a tooth would make it lose power. The ticking noise and high idle are probably something else. Why do you think it jumped a tooth?
its got 200 thousand miles and it gave me a code a while back pointing to timing advanced probable cause being tensioner worn and stretched chain. haven't had a chance to do anything with it as I just had 3 way by pass surgery and need a few more weeks healing . so I'm just speculating for the time being. lol..
is the 4.0 an interference motor or non?
there has since ive owned it a slight tick that was hardly noticeable I went to pass a car and kicked it to the floor and it was all normal till I started to let off gas and noticed loss of power and then started to hear ticking that got noticeable and performance went to shit ticking under load was noticeable idling it was faint I keep oil filter changed every 3000 mobile 1 synthetic keep well tuned and don't run the hell out of it by any means always warm it up before takeing off at least a minute or 2
Non, I have never heard of one bending valves when the timing chain jumped.
Sounds like it's time to pull the valve cove to take a look.
