Ignition switch issues

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Laredo and the ignition switch is
malfunctioning I can put the key in and the
door dings the lights come on but the key
will not turn forward or backwards I've
done all the normal things with the gear
shifter and the steering wheel and the
brakes and the emergency brake and still
no luck moving the steering wheel up and
down and I'm stranded at a gas station
right now trying to get my truck to start
can someone please help me ASAP what
is the problem and how can I resolve it

What happens if you flip the key over? I know sometimes a key will wear out enough on one side that it doesn't register unless the key is flipped over

Tried it. I actually have 2 keys & niether will work.... I've taken apart the steering column to see if I could figure out the problem but unfortunately no luck &im still stuck

Is the steering wheel lock down? (Did it get turned after the key was shut off? Try turning it each way and hit the key, maybe there's pressure applied keeping the key from turning
