Compatible engine for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee I6

Been looking online and could not find an exact
answer I’m looking for.   My engine in my 2001 Jeep
Grand Cherokee I6  needs to be replace. I’ve found
a couple of 4.0 I6 engine but don’t know if it’ll fit my
car.
I keep reading that some 4.0 engine have different
mounts and I can only use certain engine that has
to be 99+  
Help please!!!

I heard that the 1999 will not match up at the motor mounts. Your best match obviously is another 2001. Not sure, but maybe, a 2002, 2003, 2004 will work. But 1999 is definitely out.

GuruLXSV3. I did some research on engine replacements, comparing part numbers. It appears that the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 liter engine is identical to the 2001 JGC 4.0 liter engine. So yes, that swap should work. After 1999 the production of the Jeep engine went to China and some casting designs were changed. It's still an excellent engine.
