I would go for it. I just did a quick 2 minutes search on cars.com and found a 2002 Laredo excellent condition with 41,000 miles at $8,900. You could probably get a dollars off that price, make an offer, don't let the person selling it make an offer. Don't let there be any surprises when buying, some people will tell you things after your signed the first piece of paper. Tell them, if you find anything weird, you will walk away.
