Jeep brake grinding noise
Asked by kellie Sep 20, 2018 at 10:35 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Every once in a while while braking hard i
hear a grinding noise coming from what
sounds like the right front wheel . Brakes
pads are good, rotors, caliper are good
and suspension componets are tight .
What else could it be? Maybe the previous
ower used cheap pads ?

Try resetting your front brake calipers then pump the brakes and bleed them. It sounds like one of your caliper boots are not pressing all the way which puts one of your brake pads to barely make contact.

I was going to say brake pads but if only one wheel makes that sound then I would check out the right front wheel bearing. Lift that wheel and check for looseness or grinding while rotating.
I checked for looseness but both front wheels are tight and no weird noises from either side
