Front or rear differential possibly going out?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At slow speeds when I turn left or go reverse left
there is a rubbing noise. I thought it was tire rub
until it started to get worse. It seems to me that
something is binding up that's not supposed to.

Probably a front wheel bearing or CV joint in the front axle. I would have these checked.

I checked the CV joints and there all are fine, they new yet, is there a way to check the bearings other than seeing if they have play in then because I tried that and there isn't any play in them

Jack up the front wheel and wiggle the tire top to bottom. If there is any play, replace the bearings. You can also rotate the tire while it is jacked up and listen for noisy bearings.

I will do that tomorrow then, I have record of the previous owner having it brought to shop for noise coming from the front when turning, they traced it back to the front diff and added a friction modifier to it and it solve it. Should I look into that if the bearing check out fine
