Alternator amperage

What is the correct alternator amperage to supply
power to a 2004 jeep grand cherokee...i have 55
amp now and doesnt charge battery

The standard alternator for your Jeep is rated at 135 amps and it only takes 5-10 amps over a short time to fully recharge any battery. The extra amps is to run lights and accessories. I don't know where you come up with 55 amps, but a good alternator will deliver 1-135 amps depending load (voltage drop) and engine rpms. Have your battery tested and the alternator too and see what's going on.
