Just to clarify, I have a 2004 Laredo 4wd with a 6 cylinder engine, and need to know the towing capacity for a lightweight travel trailer.

Thanks, Andrew. What is included in the factory towing package? Can it be added?

I am intending to tow a trailer from Arkansas back to Washington State.
a jeep with a factory towing package comes with the hitch bumper, has an auxiliary transmission cooler, 3.73 gearing, and i believe a slightly larger cooling fan. all can be added. the bumper hitch isnt really needed. it just looks better. IMO. the transmission cooler is very easy to install. you can find one at almost any local autoparts store. this i would install for a long road trip, regardless of trailer weight. the 3.73 gearing will help with acceleration when hauling a large load, but isnt necessary with a small trailer. the cooling fan can again be found at any auto parts store(they would most likely have to order it though) and isnt really necessity
You'll also need the trailer wiring and plug. Have a pro wire that. My '94 ZJ 4.0 with the tow package also has a bigger radiator. Coolant capacity is more. Diffs came with synthetic gear oil. See owners manual! And the factory hitch isn't a bumper hitch. It's mounted below the bumper to the sub-frame. Any shop can get one and properly bolt it in.
