Jeep grand cherokee, 2004..no reverse

Asked by vkyman3 Jan 10, 2013 at 04:23 AM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car was seeming to run fine. Went into a store for about 30 min. When I came out and started my car it would not go in reverse. Can hear it spinning, but will not back up.

I'm not sure what your mileage is on your jeep but before you run out and pay for a new transmission i would have the cooler lines checked to ensure they are not leaking. There is a torque converter that needs to be primed when you engange your transmission if your cooler lines are not working properly (ie: leaking) your tranny can fail. Try this first it might save you alot of money in the long run.
