2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning

Asked by gunner1202 Jul 05, 2018 at 11:06 AM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ventilation fan wired correctly; driver side HVAC (heat and AC) works correctly from driver side temp control; passenger side center console vent supplies cold air, then hot when driver side temp control changed; passenger side vents provide cool to ambient temp air when on low AC, then provides hot air when passenger side temp control increased to HI. How can the passenger side center console vent provide cold air, but the passenger side dash vents not work correctly?

Additional diagnostics from gunner1202 regarding HVAC system problem: the AC system has been professionally recharged twice; recirculate door is working correctly; HVAC system shifts between defrost, face and floor distribution correctly; the force of air from passenger side is a bit weaker than on driver side; the main issue is lack of sufficient, cold air from the passenger side dash vents. Is it possible that the passenger side blend door is not fully opening/closing to allow only cold air? I don't really want to perform surgery on the blend doors (but will if I get confirmation that the passenger blend door isn't functioning properly, based on my diagnostics), so is it possible that the passenger blend door motor is not correctly calibrated? Can this be checked without "performing surgery"? Thanks.
