2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee all power windows and mirrors quit working
Asked by Dlt78 Jun 15, 2015 at 05:12 PM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
We parked our 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition last night and everything
seemed to be working fine when we did. My wife went out this morning to go to work
and noticed all the power windows and mirrors would not work on any switch in the car.
Also the power lock on the drivers door does not work but the switch on the passenger
front door does work. I did check some fuses under the hood and under the dash but
I'm not sure I'm checking the right ones and not sure how to tell if they are blown? Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks

That is a cartridge fuse. This one is blown

Both 9 and 15 fuses look to in good shape. I did find a black wire broken in the rubber boot going to drivers door. I repaired it with a few extra inches of wire but it still didn't fix it? I had heard that was an ongoing issue with these. I'm assuming that black wire is a ground wire?
correction 12 and 15 under the hood and 9 under the dash
I can't find a schematic, so sorry I don't know what the black wire is. But you did the right thing, the wires from door to chassis do break from thousands of open/close. I was just doing what I could, I don't own a Jeep. Sorry I was no help. Hopefully somebody that knows more will chime in.
Rear driver window will roll down, will not come up thw switch is good and fuse
I am going to change the wire haress for that door

Dlt78 did u figure out the problem the same thing just happened with my 04 jeep! Exact same thing
Always check your wires in the door. My whole passanger side stopped working and i had no idea why. Well i pulled back the boot on door frame on passenger side and found that mine had been cut before and spliced together from this issue happening before.
BINGO on the broken back wire in the wiring to the door. It was clear also when I went in there that this had been repaired before, which it odd in that we bought the Jeep when it was just 3 years old. Anyway spliced and solder and we are all good. Thanks.
