Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was coming home yesterday around corner when
check engine light came on solid and stayed on till I
got home I thought leave it over. Night went out this
morning early down the block still on I then googled
possible causes and saw that a loose gas cap
could cause this I then re tightened the gas cap and
now the light is off Im taking the car to mechanic
tomorrow to make sure everything is ok but I just
want to know would this be the main cause I just
had a service a month ago aswell as a new battery
AC compressor and regas

Good Day I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2013 but the check engine light came on when I switched on the car . I noticed a bit of water on the floor when I moved forward and reversed it back in the parking . I also noticed that when I went up the road the temp went till halfway but I already changed the water pump and radiator and there is enough coolant in the car at all times. I don't know about the thermostat though could that be the issue?
