Troubleshooting the coil

By the way... this is a new coil and neither the old nor the new coil produces spark. I've checked the wiring and can't find a short or open circuit.

Have you checked to make sure you have voltage to the ignition coil connector? That's the first place to start. If you do, make sure you check the ground circuit too.

First: you did ground the spark plug when putting it in the coil right??? The spark plug must be grounded to spark!! ok next: The ignition modules goes bad on these all the times, what would you expect from a ford design lol. The module is a box on the driver side inner fender towards the rear side near the firewall, should have 2 plug ins, one with 2 wires and one with 4 wires. 2nd cause could be a bad ignition pickup, part inside the distributor under the rotor, this tells the module which position the engine is in, you should be able to see the "teeth" under the rotor that the pickup reads.

89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a 360 in it AMC I've replaced everything from wires plugs coil ignition switch battery and starter has still have no start also did cap and rotor still will not fire any suggestions I did notice on the coral the blade connector is not connected and I cannot find where that wire was cuz I did not take it off any ideas what that third wire on the coil pack goes to much appreciated if anybody can help me
