How to remove the rear window of a 1988 Jeep Grandwagoneer?

The rear window switch can be removed without removing the rear window glass as follows: With the rear tailgate lowered; remove the strips and carpet; remove the access panel; remove the screws holding the window regulator in place, it will be necessary to raise the window high enough to gain access to the screws through holes is the gears of the regulator; after the 5 screws have been removed raise the window about half way up and support it; manually position the regulator up or down to gain access to the switch; the switch is held in place by 2 screws; the key lock must be removed for the outside of the door to remove the switch. Spacers are between the window regulator and the welded mounting bracket of the door. To move the window up and down, it helps to have someone hold the window switch mounted in the dash in the up or down position while you operate the interlock on the left side of the tailgate. If you don't have help you can tape the dash switch in the up or down position and operate the interlock. The ignition key must be in the on or accessory position while using the dash switch.

Did you ever fix? I am having the same problem with my 1987 Wagoneer. Reg sounds like its operating fine..but the track is not moving.. Nothing looks out of the ordinary....
