What could cause my Lincoln towncar not to start and making loud noise when I try to start

Dead battery or bad starter. Check and see if you have headlights without starting the car.

Lights working when I try was try at first it sounded like wanted to started then started making loud noise

Like a loud clicking noise when you crank it? If that"s the case then it's a dead battery.
