1996 Lincoln Town Car. Please help

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 96 Lincoln Town Car, I believe the 4.6 v8.
When I'm driving down the road at about 30 35
meh and I'm just keeping at a steady pace almost
like an idle but driving my car seems to start
sputtering every now and then but I'll press the gas
pedal just a bit more and it goes fine. Or if I'm
driving at any speed and I start going up a hill and I
try to maintain the exact speed it starts sputtering
too. Unless I give it a bit more gas it goes fine. But
I'm having trouble determining if it would be the
transmission, or maybe a fouled spark plug?? Can
anyone help with some knowledge please

If possible get the codes read and see if anything comes up on that. I would try to do a basic tune up such as plugs, wires, air & fuel filter and see if that helps. Check your vacuum lines for cracks and all your fluid levels. I would not jump to conclusions on the transmission. Good Luck!

Spark plugs and possibly coils will likely fix it. How many miles are on this Town Car?
