Can car be repaired?

Asked by Darwin Oct 11, 2015 at 10:21 AM about the 1998 Lincoln Town Car Cartier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Strange things happening, it seems to drain its battery and will not start
until battery is recharged..  No rhyme or reason or predictable pattern.
Replaced battery and alternator. All seemed to be fine for about 4-6 weeks.
Then after driving in the rain the alternator was not mainlining the engine's
normal running. Light show came on instrument panel as engine and all
electrical systems died and engine died last of all.

Could be a parasitic load or bad cable on alternator. I would get a voltmeter and with it running check the voltage. It should be no less than 13.5 Volts.
