04 towncar intake manifold

Asked by Mjp74 Jan 28, 2025 at 12:02 AM about the 2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Manifold is leaking under thermostat. Can I just
replace the gaskets or should I replace the whole
thing? I have the improved factory Manifold with the
aluminum cross overs not the plastic one. It seems to
me it would make more sense to replace the gaskets.
I've heard some of the new ones have alignment
issues and that can cause a vacuum leak. If any one
has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance- Mike

If your manifold is original and plastic, replace it with a genuine Ford Motorcraft manifold. With stuff like this, you run into trouble by using aftermarket parts that claim to be as good as the manufacturer's replacement parts and they're not. Jim

Thanks jim. That's what I'll do. I'll start looking for a motorcraft manifold. I was leaning towards that anyways. I Greatly appreciate your advice. Mike
