Tranny seems to "chug" when shifting into 5th gear while the A/C is running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For the past couple of months, whenever I turn the A/C on, and drive normally, I feel the transmission shift into 5th gear (at about 45-50) followed immediately by a "chugging" or series of pauses.  The tranny fluid is clean and full,  and this does NOT occur when the A/C is off.  Any Ideas?
