No crank no start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 96 grand marquis doesn't crank. All I get is a
click. I have to try several times before it finally
does crank and start. I have tried plating with the
shifter, and that doesn't help. I crawled under and
cleaned up the connections on the starter, and that
didn't help either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I was afraid of that...... anywhere from $80 to $100 on a fixed income is rough. I can do the work myself which helps. Thanks Ninja.
