Does one of the a/c lines get cold under the hood? If so, you may have a problem with the blend door which is in behind the glove box.

Automatic climate control, or manual? It's probably the blend door if it's automatic. Check those hose temps.
just got a quote from my mechanic: $990 to fix/repair/replace "blend" door which involves lots of labor to reach behind glove box. Will probably donate car to some HS shop program.
Blend door actuator replacement is very expensive in these cars because the whole dash has to come out. That requires lots of labor. Some peoples claim they can do it using some short cuts, but the proper method is remove the dash. Also it is a very good idea to use a genuine Ford replacement part rather than aftermarket parts that are available at parts stores. Stay away from the Dorman brand on blend door actuators.
