Interior lights and headlights turn off while driving, gas is floored but isn't picking up, and now the car is dead?

was driving a 99 marquis when suddenly it was running rough, my headlights and interior
lights were completely OFF, and then the car broke down. floored the gas and it wasn't
picking up. is this an alternator problem?

Either the alternator or the fan beltbroke.Could be the belt tensioner as well.If no problem is found with the belt i suggest you get the alternator tested.
