My car won't go past 42 mile anyone knows why? Is not the catalistic converter.

Plug in a scanner, or have an auto store do it. With the codes, it's a lot easier to track down the problem, maybe it is limp mode because something is bad.

1999 Gran Marquis has no limp mode. Problem likely is plugged catalytic converter. Just make sure the transmission is shifting through all the gears.

If it is not the catalytic converter the transmission may not be shifting into the higher gear and overdrive. Is the overdrive light flashing?

i have a 98 and its doing that also, but trac cntrl light keeps coming on???? i did have a tire replaced and the trac cntrl button in the glove box isnt working
