i have a 2001 grand marquis what does low voltage mean i just got a tune up do i need a new battery they said it was fine idk what do i do

If battery tested fine, then you most likely have a bad alternator. If you have a volt meter, put it on the hot side of the alternator and see what it's putting out for volts. Should be 14 volts. If you don't have a volt meter, drive to Auto Zone and they will test it for you.

With the engine running measure voltage across the battery. It should be 13.8 to 14.6 volts. If it is lower there may be a problem with, the alternator, the alternator to battery wire or the voltage regulator. Also make certain the battery cables are free from corrosion and clean and tight.
