Battery light stays on in my 2006 Gran Marquis. Battery is one yr old. How come?

Asked by GuruX2DT Apr 08, 2017 at 08:36 PM about the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Only drive the car about 15 miles a week.  So far, the car has been starting fine.
Should I take it for a 20 or so mile highway run to see if this does the fix?

Battery light staying on indicates that the alternator may not be charging the battery. Take it to an O'reilly Auto Parts of similar store for a free alternator test.
