This is a known problem with the Grand Marquis, Crown Victoria, and Town Car from this time period. The instrument cluster needs to be replaced. There are repair and return services available on the internet but turn around time is a couple of weeks. This is also something that you can't do yourself unless you have the equipment to program the new instrument cluster to the vehicle. But if you have the old cluster repaired no programming is required. I'd suggest having the cluster replaced though. I had the same problem with my 08 Grand Marquis, had my local Ford Dealer repair the cluster, and it only lasted about a month. Hope that helps! Jim

I’m having this exact same issue. Only when accelerating to roughly 2500+ RPM, resets once brake applied. Does getting the dash cluster refurbished work?
