Question type: General
2002 Eclipse Spyder,117,000 miles. On slowing down to a stop it will start to shake and stalls out if not put in neutral. Engine light comes on also. Firestone said it might be the head gasket??? Just bought it and am so upset that the guy said it ran fine. UGH!

look for a vacuum leak...use an unlit propane torch or a spray can of brake cleaner...you could just pull out a bright flashlight...unconnect and reconect the vacuum hoses....shoosh just replace them with silicone vacuum hoses what do not decay or swell and keep their vacuum full-time....not these BLACK chewing-gum and coal tar type that split, leak and cause irregular performance....this is just one suggestion...there are many~

again...the fuel pressure regulator would produce nothing for the diagnostic codes to reveal...you must examine the fuel pressure regulator...note a torn or leaking diaphragm....easin' fuel into the vacuum from that device....Trouble capital T~ http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/230982565115?lpid=82

I'm of a mind that Techron CLEANS the critical components of the fuel system AWAY~

Did you look at the coolant to see if it's gello pudding in that? did you look at the underside of the hood to find evidence of a prior overheat and subsequent "panic" filling with hose water...sometimes cracking critical components with SHOCK from immediate temperature change~....or does it look like the money-pee green...or frothy with white poo on top?
A dirty or faulty idle air control valve will cause the same symptoms. Have codes read as advised above. But note that a bad iac will not always thro a code.
my first step would be to do the obvious and get the codes scanned their there for a reason,,, then after you scan it clear them drive a little ways til' it shows codes and have it scanned again and go from there, a fill up of some fresh gas would be a good idea though
Take car back and ask for your money back. Dealer knew its not good car, but went to sell it to you anyway.

nope! all wrong your car is fine! dont worry about it. If your car cranks and turns on for a bit that good enough for everything to be in timing. How you my think there is low gas pressure because of misfire codes. Random miss fire codes are usually an electrical problem. Now next to your cam shaft sensor your grounds should all be together pinched on your motor by washers and screws. If your car in the past over heated its possible a ground took a heavey load inspect your grounds your finde one lose or a clip broken. Good luck! Robert Gomez Rgomezj909@gmail.com
