What's wrong? 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL

Asked by hisforever2015 Jul 15, 2015 at 08:51 PM about the 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera that has 73,000 miles on it. An older lady
owned it before the guy I bought it from and she only did in town driving. I took the car
on a trip to Oregon and on our way back we had just pulled in to Kennewick at a stop
light. Light turned green and I stepped on the gas but it did not go. It has been slightly
looked at and the guy said it shifts into gear just fine but it's like there is not enough
pressure to get it to go. I really need help figuring out what it is. I am moving to Oregon
in a month and need my car. I'm a single mom and can't afford to go buy a new car
again. PLEASE HELP

Probably the lock up sprag clutch on the torque converter mine was head for scrap because the guy said it was like not pushing in the clutch when you came to a stop. I laughed cuz I thought there is no mechanical connection between engine and auto trans its fluid ... well the overdrive is a lock up electric clutch and they are notorious for going out on these. I unplugged mine and it's been perfect ever since, just no OD. NBD to me not proper fix but it's very drivable
