what does code p1404 mean that showed up on my car diagnostic check?

EGR stuck open. But before you buy an EGR valve check all connections to it. May be off or loose.

I always assume vacuum and always insist they replace the butyl rubber with silicone vacuum lines....the way every BMW comes off the assembly line~
