I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4 and it will start fine but while it is ideling it makes like a putting sound like it. i changed my spark plugs but didnt seem to help.

when driving and rpm's gauge  gets at 1500 the engine rives up and the tachometer will shut up to 2000 without pushing the gas how can I fix these problems/

....well assuming the battery is newer than five years old...follow the black battery 1/0 cable from the clamp end DOWN to where it attaches to the frame...disassemble and wirebrush the lug and the frame too, re-assemble to assure the 300 cold cranking amps potential~

if you were to check the voltage...you'd find less than 12 volts for the ECM power...this one has delicate needs and one of them is to have steady 12 volts to it~ a "fuzzy" ground will have fuzzy results~
